Welcome to the sixth step in our chakra journey! Having explored the grounding energy of the lower chakras and the expressive qualities of the Throat Chakra, we now enter a space of deep insight and clarity—the Third Eye Chakra. As your guide at Circle Yoga, I’m so pleased to share how this energy centre can help you connect with your intuition, develop inner vision, and access your innate wisdom.
The Third Eye Chakra, or Ajna in Sanskrit (meaning “command” or “perceive”), is located at the centre of the forehead, just above the space between the eyebrows. Associated with the element of light and the colour indigo, this chakra governs intuition, inner knowing, and the ability to see beyond the surface of things.
Ajna is the seat of your inner guidance—where the logical mind meets spiritual insight. When this energy is balanced, you experience life with greater clarity, presence, and perspective.
When your Third Eye Chakra is open and active, you may notice:
A strong connection to your intuition and inner truth
Clarity in decision-making
The ability to “see the bigger picture” in situations
Vivid dreams and visualisation
A deeper sense of inner guidance or spiritual connection
Just as the eyes can become clouded, so too can your inner vision. When the Ajna chakra is blocked or overactive, you might experience:
Difficulty making decisions or trusting yourself
Overthinking or analysis paralysis
Mental fog, forgetfulness, or confusion
Frequent headaches or tension between the brows
Disconnection from imagination or insight
This week’s practice is designed to be deeply meditative and reflective. We focus on gentle forward folds, restorative postures, and subtle awareness to help quiet the mind and awaken inner perception.
Intuitive Yoga Poses
Child’s Pose (Balasana) – Brings the forehead to the earth and gently stimulates the third eye
Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana) – Encourages introspection and stillness
Supported Headstand (Sirsasana) – Invites blood flow and awareness to the crown and brow centre
Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose (Viparita Karani) – Calms the nervous system and enhances clarity
Move slowly and with intention. Allow space between each breath and posture to invite intuitive insight.
Daily rituals and simple choices can help support and strengthen your third eye energy.
Embrace Visual Stillness
Practice Trataka (candle gazing) or sit in quiet visualisation. Focus your gaze gently on a single object, such as a flame or mandala, to strengthen concentration and inner vision.
Support Brain and Eye Health
Eat omega-3 rich foods like flaxseeds, walnuts, and oily fish, as well as antioxidant-rich produce such as blueberries, dark leafy greens, and dark chocolate. These support mental clarity and overall brain function.
Create Space for Stillness
Spend time in silence each day, even just a few minutes. Disconnecting from screens, noise, and external input allows you to tune into the wisdom within.
Use these affirmations during meditation, journalling, or quiet moments of reflection:
“I trust my inner wisdom.”
“I see clearly, within and beyond.”
“I am open to intuitive insight.”
“I honour the guidance of my higher self.”
The Third Eye Chakra invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your deeper knowing. When you cultivate this energy, you begin to navigate life not just with logic, but with soulful clarity.
At Circle Yoga, I guide students through practices that support not only physical balance, but also energetic alignment and intuitive connection. Whether you're drawn to chakra work for healing, insight, or personal growth, I’m here to support your journey.
